Potplants, Utencil Holders & Penholders
This post is for a few random stuff, that connects in some ways.
I got the idea of using normal plates to decorate a pot for a plant. So I went and bought some odd cheap plates and Werner & I had a ball of a time smashing them with a hammer! This is the result.
These two pen holders I made for the Struisbaai Market in 2008, but didn't sell. So Christal snatched the orange one, and Werner grabbed the black one! (",)
I absolutely love this square utensil holder. Photos are of both angles. The inserts on the sides just makes the whole thing, and of course makes it very expensive, but hey - I made if for myself, so I didn't care.
Like I said before, Gideoni made up for lost time, and ordered an Utensil holder. I bought this hexagonal holder, so take a look at each side, and follow the "twig"...

Tables & Trays
I grew up with these hideous little side tables. Wooden top and steel frame. Just hideous really. And so, lucky for us, my sister took them when she moved out of the house.
Years later, still hanging on to them, she asked me to mosaic them. You won't believe the difference!
Not so hideous anymore! ;-)
Its funny how you make all these nice stuff for other people, but you're still using your old stuff, that could look better. That's how it is with me and trays. I've made these nice trays and sold them all. At the moment I am busy with 3 large trays, and will post them when finished, and some day soon, I will make myself one too.

Pot Stands
Pot stands must be the handiest thing around in your kitchen (except for a good sharp knife)!
I still remember Mom using a trivet that expanded - this is much more elegant & pretty.
This is really the easiest thing to mosaic, and the one thing I make the most of.
This was my first pair of pot stands. I actually made them for my sister for Christmas 2006, but loved them so much, I couldn't let them go! So I kept them, and they have stood the test of time!
My aunt liked the chili's as well, but wanted something in blue. So this belongs to her.

Well, Veruschka also liked the first pair I made, but her kitchen is black, so I decided to go this route, and boy, was this a winner! This has to be my most liked mosaic, and I just keep on getting orders for them. Christal eventually got her pot stands in the black format, as did Shani & Ingrid (it goes well with their Memo Boards - also in black with a chili.)
Tekkies' bday 2007.
This is one of my favourite pieces. My kitchen is all about chickens, so I got these 3 napkins, and the wooden blocks. The napkins were decoupaged onto the wood, then I used black river glass tiles for the border, and got some clear glass tiles to cover it with. The majority vote was to leave out the grouting, so I did. They call it MOSAICOUPAGE. =)
This was made as a gift to the same aunt that later ordered the blue chilies.
Christal's bday prezzie 2008. She also later ordered a pair of the black chili pot stands.
So I thought everyone knew about my Mosaic-addiction. But turns out, Gideoni didn't. But, boy, when she found out, she made up for lost time!!! Gideoni has been a very good & loyal customer to me! These were made for her orange patio.
Name Boards
I absolutely adore Name boards for babies. I think its the ONE thing every baby needs. Really. It's just so personal & pretty. It's definitely my favourite thing to make. And so much cuter than the stuff in the shops...
Here's my babies:
Jessie is a my friend's baby girl. This was my first name board and it was a baby shower gift for Veruschka.
Erno & Amara are twins. I am so jealous at Eloise for having a boy & girl twin. It's my dream!

Tania ordered Jesse for a friend, and liked it so much.....
... she just HAD to order one for her little angel as well!

Memo Boards
Keyring Holders
Everyone has keys - and you do need a place to hang them, don't you?
My sister LOVEd Ellaine's coasters so much, she ordered a keyring holder with the same idea.
I made this for myself, and now use it to hang my necklaces on - see - multifunctional!!!
Shani, my sister-in-law, liked my idea of the necklaces, but wanted something for bigger items, like an umbrella of a jacket. Nice idea, sis!
