A Few Firsts For Me!

Hi guys!

So I have a few "firsts" to share with you...

We finally decided on a name for our baby, and he will be known as Reuben Troskie!

So I finally had a name to work with and make a name board for his door. I also made another mosaic word for his room = DROOM.

Here's a peek at the two:

And another first for me, was that I had my first "outside" client. Someone whom I've never met, ordered a name board from me! She found me in the strangest way, but I am happy to welcome Niqui and her daughter Sienna to my mosaic family!

This little butterfly is for Niel & Luzanne's lil one, Anouk. Just have to actually meet up with them again to give this to her...

2010 Update

Wow, It's been a long time since I updated my blog!!! Sorry about that! Been a bit busy with the pregnancy and everything... I am proud to say I am now 28 weeks pregnant with a boy, and everything is going very well! =)

So, let me introduce a few of my latest projects!

I made this little utensil holder for my friends' baby, Andia, using decoupage & tiles.

My sister-in-law, Shani, got married in January, and this is the frame I made for them as a wedding gift.

This is also Shani's, with dark green paper decoupaged, and brown birds.

This double pot stands belongs to Gideoni, indeed very handy!

Anmarie ordered 33 coasters for a workshop at her work. I drilled holes into the one corner so the coasters got converted into a cute decoration.

Tekkies helped with this massive order! The last photo is her babies...

Speaking of Tekkies, here's some of her frames.

Behold the Giant Snail!

At last - I've been promising this for months...

And the man of the hour, himself - my handsome hubby, Werner!

This was a real team effort. I tiled, and he grouted, cleaned & painted. Without him, I don't think I would have had the guts to do such a big project...

Enjoy guys - this is my last post before my long overdue and long awaited holiday! Werner & I are going on a Contiki tour!!! =) We leave for London on Tuesday, the 13th October. From there we continue to Paris and Rome, and then we are back home on the 27th. Will post the highlights & some pics here when we're back.

Some new stuff...

Hi guys!

Some new stuff for you to feast your eyes on! =)

I don't know how to explain this, but it's purely decorative. It hangs above my guest bedroom door. Mu-u-uch bigger than its looks here.

This is Tekkies' gecko I mentioned in my previous post. I just love it! Such originality! I don't even think of her as my student anymore - more a partner in mosaicing!

Mmmmm. These three little guys makes me very nervous! It's an order by Gideoni for her sister-in-law, but I'm so afraid she won't like it... Let's hope for the best... (Gideoni - ek hoop jy hou hiervan... as jy doen, los 'n comment hieronder die post, anders moet jy maar jou skinkbord kom gryp en weghol!)

Another baby name board. I love making these! Madre ordered it for her sister's baby due in December.

I actually started with the giant snail!!! So piccies will be up shortly. Still in the making: a name board the shape of a truck (by tekkies), 2 more frames (also tekkies) and then one big and one teaspoon tray for Gideoni.

Funny how we love them when they are colourful & pretty, but in real life we just want to squish them with our shoes or the broom. hahahaha!
